Chula Vista Nature Center

Once again we won free ticket from the Housing development that we live in. This time to the Chula Vista Nature Center, they provided crafts, face painting, sandwiches and lemonade. The place was specially reserved for the housing event, which was kind of nice because we just let Nick run around. After seeing all the sharks, turtles, moray eels, and jellyfish we took a walk down to the bay and sat with the wetland marsh behind us and the bay in front of us. Such a nice time that both the boys were asleep before we even left the parking lot.

A Game to Remember

No not because it was a great game actually the Padres lost to the Colorado Rockies. Not because of the $5.00 basket of fries(that were great), not even because we got the tickets for free. It was a memorable because of the TROLLEY ride.
Usually we as a family don't utilize public transportation but parking downtown in the Gaslamp district on game night is insanely hard to find and expensive. So to save money, gas and to save ourselves the headache of trying to get cheap parking we decided to take the trolley system.
Nick was absolutely ecstatic about riding the big red trains that he See's around San Diego. The ride to PetCo park was very cool, we looked out the window, named what we saw, and followed the map on the car to our connecting train. A great time.
The really memorable part about the Trolley ride was the passenger we shared the car with on the way back home. This person was pacing the train car, yelling about Frankie(but there was no one talking with him) and he stunk of a mixture of sweat and feces. I could tell Erica was getting nervous and our kids didn't need to be around that. So at the next stop we got off the train and decided to wait for the next Trolley. Luckily the person stayed on the Trolley, and we watched him ride off on the trolley. We had a nice sigh of relief and sat and waited 10 minutes for the next trolley. So between Erica and I we feel that we have had our fill of public transportation.

My Baby's First Birthday

Yay, Connor turned one yesterday. We were going to have a pool party, but not enough people were going to get into the pool so we filled the baby pool in our yard and had the party at our house. Connor and Nick had such a blast. Neither of them took naps all day. We sang Happy Birthday, ate cupcakes and Ice cream sandwich cake, Connor looked at his candles as Nick blew them out for him. Then Connor had lots of help opening all his gifts. After that, we went out side and the boys played in the swimming pool for a while, then finally Connor crashed for a late nap at about 6:45pm He woke up again at about 9:30pm to play with his new stuff. Ben's friend Casey hung out here the whole evening, he even invited his girlfriend over to hang out with us. We found out that it was her, Sara's, birthday too. So we grabbed a cookie monster candle put it on a cupcake and sang Happy Birthday to her too! All in all we had a wonderful day and I'm pretty sure Connor had the best birthday ever!!!

Happy 5th of July

Well it's not the 4th anymore! So Happy 5th of July, hope everyone had a great 4th. We spent the day BBQ-ing steak, ears of corn and baked potatoes. The steak was a London broil, which we found out is just a tough cut of meat, so even after just searing both sides and about 5 minutes on the grill the meat was still tough. It was still good just chewy!

We took our yearly 4th trip to Coronado and watched the fireworks(Connor's first). We got there about an hour early and it's a good thing we did! The island was packed, the firework show usually draws a crowd of around 750,000 people, there not all on Coronado but almost all the Military goes there to see the show. After we parked Oddy, Nick jumped out and said I want to play with kids. There were a group of 4 girls(about 13-14 years old) talking and laughing near us. Nick just ran over to them and started jabbering away, about fireworks, boats, flashing lights, watermelons and what ever else came to his mind. When the show started, Nick ran into the van and said I'm scared. He sat in the passenger seat and watched the show out of the window. He was so exicited that he was screaming but so scared that he wouldn't watch the show with us. Connor thought the show was great he would point and scream as they were going off.

With the show over the traffic was horrible, we literally sat in traffic for over an hour. We got tired of just sitting there and took a drive around the base, then parked near the McDonalds and waited for the traffic to die down. I think we finally made it off the island 2 hours after the show.

A great 4th of July for us hope all of your's was just as fun.
